About the event
Without a doubt, Mary J. Blige is a music icon, as well as a figure of inspiration, transformation and empowerment. We’ve loved her since she first stomped her way into our hearts (in knee high combat boots) with “Real Love” almost 30 years ago. We love her because of the way she melded Hip-Hop and R&B together. We love her because her songs never get old. We love her because hearing her perform is like attending a great church service. We love her because her songs speak to our joy and pain. Mary has been through it all and she tells it like it is. Her music has been the soundtrack that has helped us grow from girls to women. She has become a sister to us all, singing the songs for the soundtrack of our lives.
